White Rock Scottish Country Dance Club Takes First Prize in 2008 White Rock Torchlight Parade

The White Rock Scottish Country Dance Club teamed up with the Tam o' Shanter Dancers to take first prize in the Musical category at this year's Torchlight Parade.  The Club performed the "Hang On" reel, devised by Club Teacher Maureen Lyon, in front of record crowds along Marine Drive next to the White Rock beach.  More photos can be found by clicking on the Photographs icon above.

Welcome to Scottish Country Dancing in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada

Enjoy fellowship and fun in a warm friendly atmosphere at the White Rock Scottish Country Dance Club. Scottish Country Dancing is social dancing that is also excellent aerobic exercise. Learn the steps and formation of jigs, reels and the stylish strathspey. Bring a friend or come by yourself.

To enhance the elegance and beauty of Scottish country dancing, ladies should wear skirts and men should wear slacks or dress shorts. Men may also choose to wear kilts to Social evenings and special events. Soft comfortable shoes are recommended.

We dance from early September to the end of April on each Wednesday evening from 7:00 - 10:00 pm. Beginners join the rest of the Club members from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, there is a short break between 8:30 and 8:40 pm, more advanced dances are taught between 8:40 - 9:30 pm and advanced dances for those who know the dance are danced from 9:30 - 10:00 pm.
